For Your ICE Only - Webisode I Shoot

Today I finally shot the very first webisode of my new internet series 'For Your ICE Only', which brings back super spy Heaven Lee from 'The Spy Who Came From Heaven'. Although I had planned to shoot the webisode on Wednesday I had to push it a day because not everyone was available. Which actually turned out perfect. It gave me time to go to my friend's Tom old photo studio (he turned it into a loft-studio-living space) and turn the place into Heaven Lee's new apartment. Tom collects retro, 1950ies furniture which totally goes with the style I'm going for for this series. Very designy, very funky, very retro-chic.
I cast AJ, a young talented actor I saw in Donna Pescow's class, as Heaven's butler Hush Hush. Yohei, my DP, found a young Japanese actress called YUka to play the part of the attacking ninja. Megan brings a couple of dresses and I opt for a black and white one which looks very 60ies. The shoot goes very smooth and once again I thank myself for having done storyboards for this scene. At the end of the shoot I am so impressed by YUka's performance that I decide on the spot to create a character just for her. She will come back as Wishi Washi, the personal bodyguard of the villain.
I rush home and start editing. Four hours later I have a first cut ready of the webisode and bring it to class where I show it to the group. The response is good and I'm now ready to write the rest of the series. I need two more webisodes by the end of the month, so I need to get busy. Very busy!
