And Vice Versa

After weeks of preparations, various reading scripts, several updated shooting scripts and elaborate story boards, everything is set to start shooting my newest short film, And Vice Versa. Well, everything. I start shooting this Saturday and I'm still missing two of my actors. I received a lot of headshots through LACasting and had auditions last Friday. With the help of Danny, who taped every actor that came in, and Jelena, we had a pretty short casting session. Not many people showed up but I did find a great actor for the part of the ruthless tabloid publisher, which, I didn't realize at first, is actually the actor with the most lines in the whole short. Two days later, Mark and I auditioned our very own friend Jamie from the Gelato Bar in Studio City for the part of the assistant. I had seen several girls on Friday but none really convinced me. I had never thought of Jamie, until Mark pointed out to me that she would be perfect. While she looks cute and innocent, she has the 'don't mess with me' attitude which is exactly the assistant. So we went to the Gelato Bar and had her read the lines. She was perfect! I hardly had to give her any direction. The character has only three lines, but Jamie's arch was spot on. Three different motions.
And now I have to find my perfect Prince. Two actors auditioned but I wasn't totally convinced. One actor was French, the other American. The latter read the lines with a pretty convincing British accent. But I'm afraid I can't use the British aspect. That might be a given that the photographer is the royal in question. I guess I will have to go back into my old headshots and resumes and find somebody. By Saturday!
