Short film domino effect!

Because I had to come up with an idea of a short film, I decided to go with the one I had already written a few months ago. The short, which right now is called 'Tit For Tat', tells the story of a young paparazzo photographer, who will do anything to get the perfect photo of his target. Only at the end do we realize that all the characters we've been looking at aren't the ones we thought they were. The photographer turns out to be a tabloid-targetted prince, who decides to turn the tables around by 'photo' hunting his sworn enemy: the publisher of the tabloid that has been making his life a living hell.
The first draft of the script made sense to me but not to my teacher, who told me to rewrite it by cutting it from 6 pages to 4, by naming every character (instead of Business Man, Blonde Young Guy and Mysterious Woman) and even setting the story in a specific country. It's amazing how twitching those three things turned the script into one little cool story!
But with the idea of not spending a dime on my next short film, I had decided to just shoot a very simple story. One exterior location to avoid renting expensive lighting equipment, three actors with minimum dialogue and not making it longer than 3 minutes. So I wrote a two pages script called 'Protection', about a mother lecturing her teenage son and his girlfriend about the virtues of 'protection'. The same week I wrote 'Protection', I wrote an even shorter short after I had to do an exercise for my Marketing Short Film class. For that assignment, we had to look at 8 different publicity shots. All 8 pictures were that of a banana in 8 different settings/situations. The goals was to pick one, give it a movie title and give a reason why you would make that movie in digital. One of the pics was that of a banana sitting in a big chair. To me, it looked like a banana in a therapy session. So I wrote a one minute short, which I'm happy to announce will be shot this coming weekend!!!! Check back next week to see how that went!!!!
