My parents arrived last night for a three week stay in California. Perfect timing because the UCLA screening of And Vice Versa was tonight. I finished the final cut of the short and played around with temporary music all morning. Mark is still working on the music so until then the movie has tracks from The Queen, Son of the Pink Panther and Soapdish. It's amazing how once again the temporary music is so in-sync with the images. It also didn't take me too long to find the perfect pieces of music.
I then had to burn a DVD copy of the film. Tip for all Final Cut Pro beginners. If you want a quick DVD copy of your final project, don't bother to export it to a QuickTime through the QuickTime conversion, which has the different options. Just export directly to the QuickTime (FCP has both options, the simple one and the more complicated one). The difference: the first one can be opened as a clip without the need of the FCP program. But the conversion takes FOREVER. No problem if you got the time, big problem if you don't! The second options converts the project into a QuickTime clip that can only be opened if you got FCP on your computer. Advantage: the conversion only takes a few minutes and the clip can actually be used in iDVD. Of course, I only found this out like at 5:45P, when I had to leave for UCLA at 6! Luckly enough Danny was able to pick up my parents so Mark could drive straight to school from work!
The screening was a success. And Vice Versa looked great on the big screen and the Q&A afterwards was fun. Many of my friends showed up ... and the left right after!!!!
